Would the Chargers benefit from Depth at Left Tackle? Vote Now if they Should Sign Taylor Lewan!
The Titans new GM Ran Carthon just cut three starters from the 2022 roster, including their starting left tackle Taylor Lewan. Lewan is a former first-round pick and a three-time Pro Bowler with plenty of post-season experience. He has missed significant time due to two knee injuries, one in 2020 and one just last season
The LA Chargers starting left tackle, Rashawn Slater missed most of last season with a ruptured bicep and the last reports are that he is still recovering from that injury. His backup is Jamaree Salyer gave up 48 pressures last season, which is almost twice as many as Slater gave up in all of 2021 and most on the 2022 squad. And Slater’s absence was a big reason that the Charger’s running game suffered. Salyer’s PFF run-blocking grade was 53 on the season. Slaters was 80 last year and 88 in the three games he played this season
Taylor Lewan would bring a lot more to the table as a backup than Salyer and he could serve as an insurance policy if Slater isn’t a full go on opening day, or misses time in the next season or two.
