Former Oklahoma offensive lineman Eugene Brooks has committed to the UCLA Bruins via the NCAA Transfer Portal. The highly-touted lineman will bring his talents to Los Angeles to aid in the rebuilding of the Bruins’ offensive line.
IOL Eugene Brooks Commits To The UCLA Bruins
Despite being listed on Oklahoma’s two-deep depth chart, Brooks saw limited playing time during the season, primarily contributing on special teams. He was able to redshirt the season due to his minimal on-field action.
The 6-foot-3, 336-pounder entered Oklahoma as a four-star interior offensive lineman and the 3rd ranked prospect in his class at his position. His rapid development and impressive physical tools led to a significant rise in his recruiting rankings. Despite facing limited playing time at Oklahoma, Brooks’ potential remains high, and he is expected to make an immediate impact at UCLA.
The native southern Californian, who attended Sierra Canyon High School in nearby Chatsworth, visited the UCLA Bruins in an unofficial capacity and was also recruited by the USC Trojans. Several national powerhouse programs, such as the Oregon Ducks and Georgia Bulldogs also recruited him.
From the offensive line, the Bruins have lost Niki Prongos, Devin Delgado, and Tavake Tuikolovatu to the transfer portal and added Brooks and tackles Julian Armella and Courtland Ford.
The Bruins will likely need to replace all starters along the offensive line this season with just center Sam Yoon returning at this point.
