UCLA Bruins Roster Bleeding Talent, Latest Departure Is Another Top Performer

The NCAA National Signing Day has been a tough day for the UCLA Bruins. Heading into it, their top running back T.J. Harden announced his plan to enter the transfer portal. Quarterback Justyn Martin did the same. Yesterday it was predicted that the Bruins would lose four-star, edge rusher commit Epi Sitanilei.

The latest blow came in the form of UCLA’s top wide receiver, Logan Loya. He announced his decision via social media:

“After five amazing seasons, I will be entering my name in the transfer portal for my final season of eligibility,” Loya wrote. “I am excited for this next chapter of my journey, and I am proud to leave here as a Bruin for life, walking away with two degrees, countless memories and relationships I’ll cherish forever.”

Loya was a key contributor for UCLA in both 2023 and 2024, excelling as both a receiver and return specialist. He led the team in touchdown receptions (4) in 2023, while ranking third in receiving yards (348) behind tight end Moliki Matavao and running back T.J. Harden.

The UCLA Bruins currently have two young but talented receivers on their roster. True freshman Kwazi Gilmer led all Bruins wide receivers last year with 31 receptions and trailed Loya’s 348 yards receiving by just three yards. Sophomore Notre Dame transfer Rico Flores flashed early against the Hawai’i Fighting Rainbows, catching three passes for 102 yards. He played the next three games but went down with a season-ending injury against the Oregon Ducks.
