Fantasy Football 2021: Week 12 Waiver Wire

First, Happy Holidays everyone, do not forget to put in your fantasy football lineups tomorrow.

Teams on bye this week are the Arizona Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs (a lot of firepowers there). So you may be stuck having to pick out the lesser of the evils on the waiver wire…but there are some good choices.

QUARTERBACKS

TAYLOR HEINICKE, WFT, 15% ROSTERED vs. SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

First, this game is an MNF game, and it might be hard to watch your other choices boom or bust while waiting on Heinicke (or you have that extra oomph in your pocket when he BOOMS).

Second, I know Heinicke may be hard to trust. In his last three starts, his stat lines are:

October 31 @ Denver: 24-of-39, 270 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT, 5 sacks, 1 carry 10 yards

November 14 vs. Tampa Bay: 26-of-32, 256 yards, 1 TD,  5 sacks, 3 carries, 15 yards

November, 21 @ Carolina: 16-of-22, 206 yards, 3 TD, 3 sacks, 6 carries 29 yards

Not really bad, all things considered. And there is talk that both tight end Logan Thomas and wide receiver Curtis Samuel will be available this week.

And don’t forget Seattle’s defense just gave up 328 passing yards and two touchdowns to Arizona Cardinals’ Colt McCoy. Seattle is 10th in the league in giving up passing touchdowns (1.4 per game) and 30th in giving up passing yards (279.6 per game).

Also Consider, Tyrod Taylor, Houston Texans, 6% Rostered vs. New York Jets

WIDE RECEIVERS

LAVISKA SHENAULT JR., JACKSONVILLE, 2% ROSTERED vs. ATLANTA FALCONS

I know, speaking of hard to trust. Remember those days when Shenault was “a thing”? Ahhh, the good ole days, well, they could be returning.

Shenault is almost the last man standing in receiving options in Jacksonville. And this week, the Jaguars will play the Atlanta Falcons, who have given up 14 touchdowns and an average of 24.6 fantasy points per game to opposing wide receivers.

It isn’t optimal, but it is a choice. Just a Thanksgiving wish, dear Urban Meyer, please line him up in the slot for the majority of snaps. Thank you.

Also Consider, Curtis Samuel, WFT, 10% Rostered vs. Seattle Seahawks

RUNNING BACKS

DAVID JOHNSON, HOUSTON 25% ROSTERED, vs. NEW YORK JETS

The New York Jets have allowed 17 rushing touchdowns and four receiving touchdowns to the running back position. They have also allowed an average of 30.3 fantasy football points to the position.

Johnson has been really bad over the season, and he has yet to score a rushing touchdown and hasn’t had over 30 rushing yards in a game. So you do this with a (turkey) wing and a prayer, and also New York has been the place running backs go to get things right. For context:

Week 11: Myles Gaskin 23 carries 89 yards

Week 10: Devin Singletary, Matt Breida, and Zack Moss all collected a rushing touchdown

Week 9: Jonathan Taylor 19 carries, 272 yards, and three touchdowns

Also Consider, Rex Burkhead, Houston, 0% Rostered vs. New York Jets

TIGHT ENDS

TYLER CONKLIN, MINNESOTA, 37% ROSTERED @ SAN FRANCISCO

This is my weekly rant until Conklin is at least 50% rostered. In his last four games, he has been targeted 7-7-5-3 times. He is currently TE13 and is on the receiving end of a 14.9% target share.

He averages 9.5 fantasy points per game, has 38 receptions, 388 receiving yards, 189 yards after the catch, and is on the field for an 80.3% snap share.

That’s it.

Also Consider, Cole Kmet, Chicago 26% Rostered @ Detroit Lions

CONCLUSION

Good luck, everyone, and I am thankful for each one who takes the time to read my work. Thank you! Happy Holidays!
