Week 5 Waiver Targets
It is about to get interesting. You need to account for plenty of injuries, but also remember that Week 6 starts BYE weeks, and the London series begins this week.
So buckle up, and let’s get started.
QUARTERBACK, TAYLOR HEINICKE, WFT, 10% ROSTERED
It is time to get off the “flash in the pan” narrative on Heinicke. In Week 4, he had three touchdowns and five carries for 43 yards. He is averaging 7.9 yards per attempt and has a 69.4% completion rate. He has eight red zone attempts and eight deep pass attempts in his three games.
His next three games will be against the New Orleans Saints, Kansas City Chiefs, and Green Bay Packers.
With the WFT defense giving up an average of 299 passing yards a game (29th) and 2.5 passing touchdowns per game (28th), you know that Heinicke will be slinging the ball and running to keep his team in the game.
WIDE RECEIVER, JAMISON CROWDER, NEW YORK JETS, 19% ROSTERED
“Guess whos back, back again.” Crowder missed the first three weeks with a groin injury. In his return, in Week 4, he led the team in targets (9) and receptions (7) with 61 yards and a touchdown. He was also targeted in the red zone five times.
In Week 5, the Jets will play the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons are allowing the seventh-most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers.
RUNNING BACK, DAMIEN WILLIAMS, CHICAGO BEARS, 7% ROSTERED
Williams will be the “IT” man on the waiver wire this week. Not only because Chicago runs on 48.91% of their offensive plays (third-most in the league) but because of the injury to David Montgomery.
There is, however, a caveat, Williams also went out with a quad injury, so monitor his status before diving in deep.
Per Next Gen Stats, Wiliams had 19 snaps (33.3%) with eight carries and two targets in Week 4. He averaged 7 yards per carry, finishing with 55 yards, a touchdown, and two receptions for 15 yards.
TIGHT END, TYLER CONKLIN, MINNESOTA VIKINGS, 12% ROSTERED
Maybe you heard this before, but Conklin should be on your roster. Especially in a shallow tight-end pool, Conklin has seen 14 targets in the last two games.
In Week 4, he had six targets, four receptions, and 18 yards. He is also responsible for a 13.9% snap share. He has one deep target but what is more optimistic is that he has three red-zone targets with three receptions.
Minnesota’s next game is against the Detroit Lions, allowing 14.5 fantasy points to the tight end (23rd ranked).
CONCLUSION
There are players who will help you available on the waiver. Be diligent and prepare for the worst but expect the best.
GoodLuck!
