Ever since it officially opened in 2020, SoFi Stadium in Inglewood has hosted some huge events. That included Super Bowl LVI between the eventual champion Los Angeles Rams and the Cincinnati Bengals back in February of 2022.
The NFL is now preparing for another big game at this world-renowned venue. League owners officially approved SoFi Stadium to host Super Bowl LXI in February of 2027 during special meetings in Texas on Wednesday.
This will be twice within a six-year span that SoFi will host the Super Bowl. It is also a clear indication that the venue is now on the list to host the sporting world’s biggest event every few years.
Las Vegas is set to host February’s Super Bowl. It will be followed by New Orleans in 2025, Santa Clara in 2026 and LA in 2027. We’re certainly seeing west coast venues now become part of the conversation with newish venues in Northern California, Southern Nevada and Los Angeles.

Super Bowl LXI Will Be An Economic Boon For Los Angeles
According to Bloomberg, Super Bowl LVI brought in an economic impact of between $234 million and $447 million to the greater Los Angeles region. It also created 4,700 new jobs for the area.
This was coming right out of the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, and lifted up the Southern California region in a big way. We can expect a much larger impact come February of 2027.
The College Football Playoff was played at SoFi Stadium to conclude last season. Meanwhile, the 2026 FIFA World Cup will host events at the venue as will the 2028 Summer Olympics, which will be held in the Los Angeles region.
These are all examples of the area becoming one of the greatest cities when it comes to hosting sporting events in North America. Super Bowl LXI only adds another layer to that.
