Super Bowl 54 is just a few days away and while most people are focusing on who will be the winner of the matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers, there is still money to be made. Not just with what will happen on the field but through all of the prop bets as well.
Since I was a kid, my friends would come over to watch the Super Bowl in my basement and my parents would write down all the prop bets and have us pick our answers. The winner would get a gift card for AMC or Buffalo Wild Wings and bragging rights for a year. So we are bringing that fun to the LAFB Network readers with a reward a little better than a movie theater gift card: money straight into your wallet.

National Anthem: Over 123.5 seconds
We have here my favorite annual sports bet. That’s right, my favorite sports bet has nothing to do with the game whatsoever and is over before kickoff. The reason I’m so invested in this? Even with bets like this that are seemingly entirely dependent on luck, a little research can go a long way.
The under is typically the way to go here as 83% of the last 12 national anthems have gone under two minutes. Ironically enough, one of those outliers was Gladys Knight last year.
Demi Lovato is up to bat this year and luckily for us, she has sung the National Anthem in a sports arena twice. The first was before Game 4 of the 2015 World Series and the second was before the McGregor vs. Mayweather fight. In the latter, she hit the over with a comfortable 10-second cushion and with the former, she finished just under at 1:58. I think she will hit the over but with a narrow margin.
Highest Scoring Half: 2nd Half (-155)
One of the more surprising statistics when studying the scoring history of the Super Bowl is the fact that of the past 10 Super Bowls, only 2 have had first quarters with over 12 combined points. Teams usually play conservatively to feel each other out and players are nervous which leads to plenty of three-and-outs. So with half of the first part of the game pretty much guaranteed to be low scoring, especially with a defense like the 49ers have in play, it’s a safe bet to assume that the second half is where a majority of the fireworks are going to happen.
Will Kaepernick Be Mentioned: Yes (+100)
The key with betting is put emotions, politics and favoritism aside. No matter what you think or feel about the whole Colin Kaepernick ordeal, this is one of the most interesting novelty bets you will find for the Super Bowl. The NFL obviously doesn’t want him mentioned at all and will likely try to affect the broadcast from doing so but that can only go so far. I find it hard to believe he won’t be mentioned even once, whether it be explaining the rollercoaster of 49ers quarterbacks in the past few years, or the fact that he was the last quarterback to lead the 49ers to a Super Bowl. This only increases the likelihood of him being mentioned at least once.
