LeGarrette Blount and Chris Long are looking to join a very short list of players who have won back-to-back Super Bowls with different teams. Long and Blount both were members of the 2016 Patriots and are now facing their old teammates as members of the Eagles in Super Bowl LII. Blount says he has no feelings right now towards his former teammates and is in “straight enemy mode” this week. Here’s a look at the other players to win consecutive Super Bowls with different teams.
Only one other player has had to go into “enemy mode” on his former team. Brandon Browner was a member of the 2013 Seahawks and received a ring even though he ended the year with a PED suspension. Browner then went on to win his second ring with the 2014 Patriots when they defeated Seattle 28-24 in Super Bowl XLIX.
There is one other Patriot on this list, offensive lineman Russ Hochstein. Hochstein appeared in one game for the 2002 Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was released before the Buccaneers went on to win Super Bowl XXXVII against the Oakland Raiders. New England picked Hochstein up and he stayed with the team until 2008. Hochstein started in one game for the Patriots in 2003, the season in which they won Super Bowl XXXVIII over the Carolina Panthers.
Derrick Martin is another member of this list, as he played on both the 2010 Green Bay Packers who won Super Bowl XLV over the Pittsburgh Steelers and 2011 Giants who beat the Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI. Martin wasn’t an impact player, as he recorded just 14 tackles and one interception over both those seasons. Nevertheless, he still has two Super Bowl rings and no one can take that away from him.
Current Seahawks defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr. won three straight Super Bowls. He won back-to-back titles with the Dallas Cowboys in 1992 and 1993, then joined the San Francisco 49ers in 1994 who won Super Bowl XXIX. Norton’s teammate on that 49er team is the biggest name on this list.
Deion Sanders left the Atlanta Falcons for the 49ers in 1994, where he won the first of his two titles. During a Q&A Sanders hosted on Twitter, he called the ’94 49ers team the best team he played for. He joined the Cowboys in 1995 and was part of the team that won Super Bowl XXX.
