USC Trojans Safety Kamari Ramsey On Lott Impact Trophy 2024 Watch List

Former UCLA Bruins safety Kamari Ramsey was one of the top players in this season’s transfer portal. Ultimately, he ended up following his defensive coordinator across town to the delight of the USC Trojans. Now he looks to build upon a tremendous 2023 campaign, but the country is already taking notice to his potential.

The Pacific Club IMPACT Foundation announced the 42 candidates for the 2024 Lott IMPACT Trophy at a luncheon on Thursday in Newport Beach and Ramsey was included in the watchlist.

At the recent luncheon, Ronnie Lott addressed the attendees, with USC defensive coordinator D’Anton Lynn delivering the keynote speech. Lynn shared the stage with Bruce Feldman from Fox Sports.

The winner of this prestigious award is chosen by a national panel of voters, including past winners, media members, coaches, and the Board of Directors of The IMPACT Foundation. The announcement will be made at a black-tie gala event at The Pacific Club in Newport Beach, CA, on December 8.

The Lott IMPACT Trophy Watch List this year features 42 standout athletes. It includes 18 defensive backs, 13 defensive linemen, and 11 linebackers. The SEC boasts 13 players, the highest representation among conferences, followed closely by the Big Ten with 12. The ACC and Big 12 each contribute seven players, and three come from independent schools.

Unique among college football awards, the Lott IMPACT Trophy honors a player not only for his performance but also for his character. Named after NFL Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott, the award goes to the Defensive IMPACT Player of the Year, recognizing the player who has significantly influenced his team both on and off the field. IMPACT stands for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community, and Tenacity, values epitomized by Lott throughout his career.

Ramsey will have stiff competition for the award, including Colorado’s Travis Hunter, Ohio State’s Denzel Burke, Penn State’s Abdul Carter, and Michigan’s Mason Graham, but if he plays to his ceiling, he could certainly end up being one of the finalists for the award.
