Hard Knocks: Former USC QB Caleb Williams Takes Center Stage on New HBO Season

Caleb Williams has been one of the biggest stories in football for the past two years and now USC football fans will get an inside look at his next chapter, leading an NFL team. It was announced on Thursday afternoon that the long-running and popular NFL Films and HBO series Hard Knocks will feature William’s new team the Chicago Bears.

Hard Knocks has documented one (or more) team through their run-up to the impending season since 2001. This is the first time the Bears will be the focus of the show. And they couldn’t have picked a better year to highlight the team.

The Bears stand on the precipice of fielding their first winning football team in five seasons. Having just added Williams with the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, they are also attempting to find the elusive franchise quarterback, something that this franchise has never had in its 105-year history. Chicago is the only team in NFL history to never have a 4,000-yard passer.

Williams will undoubtedly be the center of the narrative. Not only as he attempts to make the jump from college to the pros, but also because of his reputation for unorthodox behaviors and borderline diva tendencies. Producers will certainly be looking for Williams to show that side of his personality in this season.

The debut of the five-episode series premiers Tuesday, Aug. 6 at 9 p.m. on HBO and will stream on Max. New episodes will run each Tuesday through Sept. 3.
