After adding both WR Donovan Wood and OL Erwin Taomi in the transfer portal just yesterday, the USC Trojans aren’t done with the offseason news.
After another big recruiting weekend that saw some current commits and some hopefuls, the Trojans were able to gain a big-time commitment from one of the top players in the 2026 class.
USC Trojans Land Commitment From Xavier Griffin
As just a sophomore in high school, Griffin finished with 52 total tackles, 9 sacks, and 7 quarterback hits. He stands at 6’3, 2010 pounds.
As it currently stands, On3 has Griffin rated as the 6th overall LB in the country, and 247 Sports has him at Number 1 and the 15th overall recruit in the 2026 class.

Being this far out, there is a lot that can change, and SC fans are all too familiar with Georgia recruits committing and then decommitting, but there has been chatter that Griffin could potentially reclassify to the 2025 class, drastically expediting his recruiting process and bolstering the 2025 class.
If he does stay in his projected 2026 class, he will be the 5th commitment for the Trojans, and gives them the 3rd overall class, according to On3.
Coach Henderson and Coach Nua were both heavily involved with the recruiting of Griffin and now it will be up to the 2024 team and defense to demonstrate the work and foundation that is being laid.
Per sources that I have spoken with, there are some very positive developments with the NIL program that will certainly aid in retaining a player of Xavier Griffin’s caliber. We will update you with the details as they become available.
