The Bear Alexander saga was certainly an interesting one during his time with the USC Trojans. After transferring from Georgia, he instantly became the face of the defense and backed that up by having a stellar 2023 campaign.
When Coach Henderson was hired in January of this year, the perception was that Bear was going to reach another level and make a case for one of the top defensive players in the Big Ten.
Before we even got to that point, there were rumors that Bear was unhappy with his NIL situation and was threatening to enter the Spring transfer portal. A hail mary kept him on campus through the duration of spring and fall camp.
However, after a reduced snap count (at least in his mind) in the 3rd game of the season against Michigan, he voiced some frustration on social media, and one of his family members went off, questioning the coaches and even putting down some of Bear’s teammates on defense.
When asked about this, Lincoln Riley claimed that it was no big deal and everything was all good, but within 24 hours of that statement, Bear Alexander announced that he would be redshirting, meaning he was done playing for the year and signifying that he would be transferring elsewhere, again.
Well, now the saga has taken another turn and perhaps demonstrates that Bear and his camp mishandled and misjudged the situation.
Bear Alexander Left USC Trojans, But Former Team May Not Want Him Back
Bear posted on Saturday morning that he was in Athens and he was wearing a Georgia shirt.
According to a UGA.Rivals.com message board, “…Alexander would like to come back to Georgia. We have also heard that Georgia is not entertaining the idea of bringing him back. Alexander was not a “visitor” yesterday…”
So Alexander may have been at the game as a fan, but according to this, he was not invited by the program as a visitor.

Even with all the drama that has surrounded Bear Alexander during his college career, some team out there will certainly offer to bring him in. But based on this report, it won’t be Georgia.
Will he play at a top-tier school again, or will he be forced to go the Malachi Nelson route and end up at a Group of 5 school? Coaches talk, so it will be interesting to see what Lincoln Riley and his staff will say if future coaches call.
Either way, we hope Bear finds what he is looking for.
