Playing quarterback for the USC Trojans is an opportunity that only the best get the opportunity to uphold. Some of the best QBs in college football have donned the Cardinal and Gold, and it is a tradition that the program plans to continue.
Husan Longstreet is the latest 5-star recruit to call USC home, and he hopes to carry on the legacy that was created before him.
He will be a true freshman this season, and while Jayden Maiava is the current starter (as he should be), Longstreet will certainly push Maiava to the brink and vie for the starting role, which will only make both QBs better.
Last night was the infamous Polynesian Bowl, and if that game was any indication, the future for Husan Longstreet is extremely bright.
USC Trojans QB Husan Longstreet Wins Co-MVP
Longstreet led Team Makai to a 28-21 victory, off a 75-yard touchdown pass with under two minutes to Oregon WR Dakorien Moore.
Longstreet finished the contest with four total touchdown passes, going 15 for 23 and 278 yards. He earned Co-MVP honors with the above-mentioned Moore, who finished with six catches, 130 yards, and two touchdowns.
A high school all-star game might not mean a whole lot, but it should have fans excited. The arm talent is obvious, and the poise is clearly there.
He is still a raw passer, but with Lincoln Riley’s tutelage, Longstreet has a chance to be really special at the next level.
Will Husan Longstreet be the next USC Trojans QB to compete for the Heisman? We are getting ahead of ourselves, but it is already looking like an attainable dream.
