One of the biggest priorities for the USC Trojans this offseason was to beef up in the trenches. On the defensive line, they lost Kobe Pepe, Nate Clifton, and Gavin Meyer to the NFL Draft, and Bear Alexander to the Transfer Portal.
The Trojans have a young talented room in Jide Abasiri, Deven Thompkins, Carlon Jones, and others, along with incoming 5-star freshman Jahkeem Stewart, but they certainly need to add some starting talent, beef, and experience through the portal.
Today, they landed their first addition and it is a good one.
Former 5-star recruit and 4-star transfer out of Kentucky Keeshawn Silver has committed to the Trojans.
USC Trojans Land Commitment From Keeshawn Silver
The 6’4, 322-pound redshirt junior is a former 5-star recruit out of North Carolina. Silver finished 2024 with 26 total tackles and 1 sack.
Per On3, Silver was the 2nd-rated defensive lineman in the transfer portal behind only Lee Hunter who committed to Texas Tech.

Silver will have the opportunity to be the immediate starting nose tackle and has the size and strength necessary to play the position in the Big Ten.
The Trojans will certainly add more to the room, but as it stands, the starting group could potentially look like this.
- DE – Anthony Lucas
- DT – Keeshawn Silver OR Jide Abasiri
- DT – Deven Thompkins OR Jahkeem Stewart
- DE – Braylon Shelby OR Kam Fountain
It will be interesting to see if they line Stewart up as a DT or on the EDGE, but at first glance, this is a much deeper group than many outsiders think.
Keeshawn Silver is a fantastic addition and a big win for Coach Henny and the Trojans, just ask Jahkeem Stewart…
