If you have been a USC Trojans fan over the past two years, this will be no shock to you, but quarterback Caleb Williams is really good at football. Today he made his debut in the NFL for the Chicago Bears in the preseason, and he certainly impressed and looked ready for the moment.
Now, before crowning him rookie of the year and the next great franchise QB in the NFL, let’s remember that this is the preseason and defenses play about as vanilla schemes that you can get, but it is still encouraging to see him being, well, Caleb Williams.
In his two drives of work, he finished 4-7 for 95 yards and led two scoring drives with a pair of field goals. Stats aside, what is even more exciting is seeing some of the same magic that Williams displayed at USC.
If you have been to the Coliseum in the fall, you are no stranger to this magic.

He is able to elude pressure better than just about any quarterback I have seen and keep plays alive. The above video is the perfect example of that.

The question will be, when he is going up against all starters and schemes that are aimed at keeping him in the pocket, how will he adapt? I’m sure every NFL defensive coach has the Notre Dame film from 2023 on repeat on how to slow him down. But you know Williams has that film on as well.
Another prime example of the arm strength and brilliance that is Caleb Williams. There are only a handful of QBs in the NFL that can make this throw, and he makes it look easy.
It was a good day for the former USC Trojans quarterback, and another bright spot for Lincoln Riley and his ability to prepare QBs for the next level.
USC Commit, Julian Lewis had his first high school scrimmage of the fall season last night, and I am sure he was watching the Number 1 overall pick today. Will he be the next great USC Football QB?
