The world of recruiting can come at you fast, and for the USC Trojans, the last few weeks have been a whirlwind.
After a pair of de-commitments, including local EDGE Hayden Lowe, the future of the program was looking bleak with more de-commitments looking eminent.
One of those included the most likely loss of 5-star QB Julian Lewis.
With a season that had fallen off the rails, a failed 2025 recruiting class would have sent fans even further off the deep end.
But then a seismic shift happened.
While the news of Julian Lewis de-committing was not yet official, Lincoln Riley and his staff (notably QB Coach Luke Huard) began to pursue local Centennial 5-star quarterback Husan Longstreet who was committed to Texas A&M. After last week’s win over Nebraska, Longstreet officially flipped from A&M and committed to USC, and Lewis officially de-commited.
This sent shockwaves through the recruiting world and seemingly gave the Trojans momentum again, especially among California recruits.
More Local Commitments Coming For USC Trojans?
The USC Trojans had a long list of visitors last weekend, including 5-Star DL Jahkeem Stewart, and they earned the commitment of DL Cash Jacobsen, but then rumors of another Texas A&M popped up.
4-star EDGE/LB Marco Jones has been a target for USC for some time and he had a great official visit back in June. He ultimately decided to commit to the Aggies in July, but could a flip be coming?
Just yesterday, Jones tweeted the phrase “Dawg work!!!!” which of course is the phrase coined by USC defensive line coach/ co-defensive coordinator Eric Henderson.
Now tweeting a fairly common phrase is hardly an endorsement of a commitment flip, but you never know. If you are connecting the dots, Husan Longstreet and Jones were both a part of the A&M 2025 class before Longstreet flipped. Could he potentially aid in getting him back to the Trojans side?
At this point, this is all speculation, but with Hayden Lowe flipping to Miami, the Trojans are in need of another EDGE in the 2025 class and they have a direct tie to Jones and now have the connection of Longstreet. Not to mention the obvious connection of staying in California.

Marco Jones is the 17th-ranked EDGE in the country, and the 9th-ranked overall player in California, per On3.
Still plenty of moving pieces, but it certainly feels that USC Trojans recruiting is trending in the right direction again.
