The old saying goes, game recognizes game. Former USC Trojans quarterback Caleb Williams loves the game of Los Angeles Rams quarterback, Matthew Stafford. The number-one overall pick in the 2024 draft, went on Up and Adams, with Kay Adams, and gushed over how much he has learned to appreciate the complexities and nuances of the 2009 number-one overall pick’s career.

“I didn’t really understand and then I got older and older and then I started to understand his game. He’s unbelievable. There’s a couple plays where he’ll get a play action and he has the backer on a string. He wants the backer to go here, he’ll go there. Then throw it right behind his head at the perfect touch, perfect velocity. He’s unbelievable.”

Williams was shocked that Stafford appeared at 42 on the recent NFL: Top 100 players list. According to the list Stafford falls behind 10 other quarterbacks. He was outranked by some questionable signal-callers; Brock Purdy, Jalen Hurts, Tua Tagovailoa, and Dak Prescott. As well as, some expected names; Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, and Josh Allen.

Adams asked where Williams had Stafford ranked. Ahead of Josh Allen?

“Matthew Stafford is Matthew Stafford. Aaron Rodgers right now in the game is my number one QB. Obviously last year he got hurt and things like that. Matthew’s top two. I give him his respect. I watch his game and try and mimic things he does.”

Apparently, Adam’s staff has become aware that many NFL quarterback’s favorite quarterback is Stafford.

“My staff is obsessed my entire Up and Adams production crew is obsessed with a quarterback’s favorite quarterback being Stafford.”

Most recently on an episode of the Million Dollars Worth Of Game podcast, CJ Stroud professed his admiration for Stafford. The 2023 Offensive Rookie of the Year, described him as elite and believes he would have more Super Bowl Championships if he had played his younger years in a better situation.

The Chicago Bears will face the Rams on September 29th in Week 4 of the upcoming season. Stafford will start his 16th season in the league and fourth with LA. Williams, the presumptive starter, will be in his fourth game of his NFL career.
